CAPTURING

Weddings + Elopements

STYLE + PHILOSOPHY

I want you to have a fun, relaxed wedding day focused on authentic moments and beautiful details. Your wedding photos should reflect the joy and love you feel on your big day. I capture those feelings in candid moments and by using engaging prompts. Let’s be honest, it’s already awkward to have a paparazzi third wheel on one of the most romantic days of your life. The last thing I want to do is make it weird by telling you to pose in an unnatural way! You deserve to be surrounded by people genuinely care and are passionate about what they do on your wedding day. Not only will you have peace of mind knowing that I will capture and preserve your most important memories, but you will also feel like we are old friends going on a strange, yet oddly comfortable, date!

The CBK Experience

My job is to be so much more than your wedding photographer. I’ll help you create your wedding timeline to make sure you don’t spend the day feeling rushed, make sure you pee before you put on your dress, find bandaids for blisters, and even grab you a drink from the bar when you need one! From the moment you join the CBK family – I got you. All you have to do is enjoy your wedding day!

Step One: Get in Touch

I only take on 15-20 wedding clients per year because I am dedicated to be there for you every step of the way – from the planning, to the engagement session, to the big day and beyond. Let’s get to know each other and make sure we’re the right fit, because I’m in this for the long haul!

Step Two: We’ll get together

I can’t wait to get to know you, your fiance, your story and your wedding vision! I’ll reach out to set up a time for us to chat over a mug (or glass!) of whatever you like to relax with. I prefer to meet in person, but if that’s not possible, we can meet virtually. At this meeting will discuss all the details that will help me create a custom Collection Proposal that is tailored to your values and vision!

Step Three: Ready to book

When you decide you can’t wait to have me photograph your wedding, you will reserve your date with a $1000 non-refundable retainer. I’ll send over our Agreement, a personalized stress-free wedding day timeline, and my catalog of preferred vendors to help you get started with the rest of your planning!

Step Four: Engagement Session

An Engagement Session might not be at the top of your priority list during this very busy season of life, but I beg all of my clients to make time for one. Your engagement session is more about getting you two comfortable in front of my camera, and us all getting to know each other, than it is about making sure that you have a full gallery of portraits. During your session we will have fun and capture your “everyday” love. On your wedding day, you’ll feel like a trusted friend is showing up, not just the photographer you hired, and you won’t feel nearly as awkward when I totally invade your personal space during romantic moments.

Step Five: Wedding Planning

From here on out, you’ll really get into the planning process and I’m here for it! Whether it’s a celebratory text when you cross off a big item on your to-do list, or a recommendation for a florist or DJ (I know some pretty awesome people); I’m in this with you! Whatever you need, don’t ever hesitate to ask. About a month before your wedding day, we’ll get all the details – finalized timeline, family groupings, etc – figured out ahead of time so that the big day runs perfectly. I’ll also ask you to send me photos of any walls in your home that you may want to design. If you plan to move soon, just let me know, and I’ll give you ideas for wall art that can be easily adapted to new spaces!

Step Six: Celebrate

It’s  your wedding day and I’m back to serve you and your loved ones. From the big moments to the candids in between, I’ll be capturing it all. On top of being your photographer, I’m like the bonus bridesmaid – I’ll do whatever it takes to help make your day stress-free and perfect! Maybe the guys need boutonnieres pinned on or you forgot your deodorant; I’ve got your back. I’ll fade into the background when I need to, and when you need a little help, I’ll use prompts and movements to get you interacting in a natural way so your photos won’t look stiff and uncomfortable (even if your fiancé swears that he’s totally awkward in front of the camera).

Step Seven: The Big Reveal

Your day is over, the dress has been hung and you’re off to your Honeymoon. No worries, sneak peeks are on the way! I’ll post a few sneak peeks within a week and a blog post about half way through the editing process.  As a part of my editing process, I’ll select the photos that tell the best story of your day and personally edit all of your photos. When your gallery is ready, about 2 months after your wedding, I’ll have you set up a time to view them together in the comfort of your own home (put on something comfy and open a bottle of your favorite wine – it’s date night!). I believe it is so important that you’re together to see your wedding photos for the first time. Along with your gallery, I will send you your customized wall design suggestions! You’ll get your image files as a download through your online gallery, and if you’ve chosen to add an album, we’ll get to work on the design. Most couples have an album in their hands within three to four months.

Step Eight: Forever

Didn’t you read the fine print?! I snuck a line in on your marriage license…we’re going through this crazy thing called life together now! In all seriousness, I want to have an amazing relationship with you, and serve you so well that you can’t imagine trusting anyone else with your life’s most precious memories. I am your Forever Photographer, and I can’t wait to capture all the amazing moments to come!

READY TO BOOK?

If there is anything you take away from wedding planning, I hope it is this: The investments you make into this incredible day are important. Even though your flowers will eventually dry, your cake will be placed in the freezer, and you might even press your dress to put it away, your photographs keep your memories alive. Being your photographer is a job I take very seriously. I know you value your memories, and you deserve to have peace of mind knowing that someone who cares about you and your wedding vision is capturing them all for you. We will create a custom collection that will fulfill your dreams. I want to honor your values and truly customize your options, I’m not able to give you specific prices before our consultation; but I can tell you that CBK couples invest an average of $4000 for traditional full wedding day collections. If you are working with a budget of at least $2,500 (for a traditional wedding day) and photography is one of your top priorities, then it’s worth contacting me and having a conversation!

Frequently asked questions

Do you have a second shooter?

I absolutely prefer to work with a second shooter at all of my weddings, and I have some amazing people (shoutout to Melissa and Christina) that I love to work with! I have a whole blog post about why second shooters are so important – but a few of my top reasons are: we can be in more than one place at the same time, you will get more images of your day, and they are basically an insurance policy!

Do you offer albums?

Yes! In fact, I feel so strongly about you having tangible memories that you can share with your loved ones, that I offer album options with every collection. I offer two different styles of albums in three different sizes.

Should I feed you?

Yes, you should feed all vendors who work through your dinner. In fact, many venues will require you to do so, and many vendor contracts (including mine) have a meal clause. Wedding days are just as long for us as they are for you, and the last thing you want is one of your vendors passing out during your First Dance!

How would you describe your style?

If I had to use three words, they would be natural, emotional, and timeless. I try to capture moments exactly how they are, so that your memories are authentically preserved.

Do you travel?

YES – and I love to! Travel expenses will be included in your Custom Collections if your wedding will be outside of Southeast Michigan.

How far in advance should we book you?

Weekends during popular wedding months fill up very quickly. As soon as you have a date and venue booked, I recommend contacting me! I’ve also had many couples inquire about my availability prior to booking their venue to ensure I was open for their date. Feel free to contact me about my open dates prior to booking a venue! Typically vendors book up to a year in advance.

Do I pay Sales Tax on my Collection?

The prices you see on your Collection Proposal are all-inclusive, I have already included Michigan’s 6% sales tax as well as any applicable travel fees – there are no surprise costs here!

This all sounds amazing, but it also sounds like it could be expensive. Will we be able to afford this?

Ten years from now, when you are snuggled on the couch looking through your wedding album, you won’t be thinking about the cost of your photography package. That being said, If we’re a match made for forever, I am happy to work out a payment plan with you to make this work!
