Born and raised in Michigan, I love this state and its natural beauty. There is a different, but equally magnificent, beauty to be found in Michigan’s cities – and none more than the Motor City. Detroit is a lively city with a dynamic history and stunning architecture, and the Metro Detroit area has some of the most beautiful venues and incredible scenery in the state. As a Detroit wedding photographer, I’ve found the best wedding venues Detroit has to offer. From waterfront properties to industrial venues, open window skyline views to lush botanical conservatories, there is a dream Detroit wedding venue for every couple!
With so many amazing options to choose from, narrowing it down can feel a little overwhelming. So, I’ve done the work for you – below are some of my favorite Detroit wedding venues that you should consider for your wedding day!
Meadow Brook Hall is a remarkable historical wedding venue in Rochester, Michigan with versatile options for smaller or larger ceremonies. The home built by John Dodge’s widow, Matilda Dodge Wilson, this national historic landmark is simply stunning inside and out. This is the perfect venue if you’re looking for a space that offers indoor and outdoor options!
Verified as a Michigan and U.S. Historic Site, The Ford Piquette Plant is a preserved historical plant with space for small and large ceremonies. With late Victorian-style brick exposure, vintage wooden posts and beam frames, and loads of history from the industrial era, The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant is a dream Detroit wedding venue for couples looking for a historic and unique location!
The Henry Ford Museum is an award-winning venue for couples looking for elegance and classical style. The Museum offers both indoor and outdoor ceremony options in the Anderson Theater and Pennsylvania Courtyard respectively. The stunning architecture of the Prechter Promenade is the perfect space for Cocktail Hour. The Museum Plaza offers a unique reception space surrounded by inspiring artifacts – your guests will love eating their dinner under a suspended plane! If you’re looking for a space where nature, history, and architecture come to life, Pine Knob Mansion might be the estate wedding venue for you. Pine Knob offers two spaces, The Mansion and The Carriage House. The Pine Knob Mansion is an English style Manor with arched ceilings and stained glass windows. The Pine Knob Carriage House is a contemporary building with floor-to-ceiling windows and crystal chandeliers. The Detroit Institute of Arts, located six minutes from downtown, is the ideal Detroit wedding venue for the trendy, artistic couple. The galleries and beautiful pieces create a welcoming and unique one-of-a-kind wedding atmosphere.
Located in the heart of city, Eastern Market is a spectacular option for the couple with modern style looking for a Detroit wedding venue with a blank canvas. With flexibility throughout the week (every day except Saturday), Eastern Market has three buildings to choose from, each with its own mix of history and modern amenities.
The Madison combines breathtaking rooftop views with an industrial loft that features exposed brick, high ceilings, and oversized windows. The Loft can accommodate up to 180 guests and the rooftop offers a covered catering area as well as a full-service bar.

The McGregor Memorial Conference Center is THE Detroit Wedding Venue located on the Wayne State University campus near the heart of the Motor City. The two-story center has reception spaces overlooking lobbies accented by columns and sleek designs that bring in natural light for many beautiful photo opportunities, including a reflecting pond and sculpture garden.
If you’re looking for a modern distillery that will transport you into another world, The Whiskey Factory is for the crafty connoisseur couples. Located just one minute from downtown Detroit, The Whiskey Factory offers customizable spirits and 7,000 square feet space for ceremonies.
The Packard Proving Grounds is a vintage venue on the National Registry of Historic Places with 17 acres of industrial buildings and countryside views. Packard has 1928-era buildings that Albert Kahn designed for the Packard Motor Car Company.
