After getting engaged, choosing a wedding venue is one of a couple’s first tasks…it can also be overwhelming. The venue sets the tone for the entire event and is the key to transforming a dream wedding into a reality. As a Michigan wedding photographer, I’ve had the experience of being a part of numerous wedding days with my couples. If you’re looking for a breathtaking venue with greenery and a conservatory near the Detroit area, I highly recommend The Planterra Conservatory.
The Planterra Conservatory is a breathtaking botanical garden wedding venue and event center. Planterra isn’t just a beautiful greenhouse venue though, they also offer full service planning. The team is exceptional at customizing the space to make each wedding day unique for their couples.
Founded by the Sanders family in 1973, the Planterra Conservatory first began its operation out of a private greenhouse in the Bloomfield Hills area. Staying true to its Detroit roots, they offer a selection of local culinary and beverage menus favorites at the Conservatory.
When selecting a wedding venue, location can be an essential factor. Planterra Conservatory is located in West Bloomfield Township, just a little over 20 minutes from Detroit. Planterra is an ideal location for couples planning an elegant Detroit wedding. Guests will swoon over this botanical garden wedding venue just outside the Motor City!
Planterra’s Facility Fee for a wedding reception includes 5 hours of venue use. Events that go beyond 5 hours incur an additional fee of $350 per hour. Tables, early access to the grounds, use of the private green room, and venue coordination are all included in the rental. If you also want to host your wedding ceremony at the conservatory, the ceremony rental and labor fee is $1,250.
Planterra is not just a stunning greenhouse wedding venue, it also has an award-winning culinary team and is the exclusive food service provider at the Conservatory. The food and beverage minimums vary depending on the night. The Friday minimum is $14,500, the Saturday minimum is $19,500, and the Sunday minimum is $10,500. Exceptions to Planterra’s exclusive catering include wedding cakes, cupcakes, dessert tables, and late night snacks.

When you book the Planterra Conservatory, you get so much more than a stunning modern garden wedding venue!
This space will coordinate for 200 guests, has an award-winning food and service team, provides in-house floral design, an around-the-clock stylist team, and more! The Planterra team will help with the extensive, small, and in-between details you might miss. The team is genuinely dedicated to making your special day as easygoing as possible.
The floral department at the Conservatory creates custom floral and botanical displays for your special day. Their breathtaking floral arrangements will have your guests speechless over your gorgeous wedding details. They can provide florals for your ceremony and reception and even have unique botanical gifts for your guests as wedding favors!
Planterra specializes in Winter, Spring, and Fall weddings and has both indoor and outdoor ceremony space options. The indoor wedding season runs from September to May. When you’re planning a Michigan wedding, finding a venue that can bring natural beauty indoors is the ultimate goal, Mother Nature won’t get in the way of your wedding day!
Being able to have your ceremony and reception at one venue is another wedding day stress reducer. You can efficiently use your time for portraits and actually attend cocktail hour with your guests instead of spending valuable time traveling between venues.
The best feature of the Conservatory, of course, is simply how stunning it is. Planterra is the dream venue for any couple envisioning a modern garden wedding. Both your guests and photographer will love its abundance of natural light and beauty – the entire space is bathed in beautiful sunlight during the day. You and your guests will also have a clear view of the starry night sky, setting the mood for a romantic and intimate evening.
