Julianne and Nick’s summer wedding at Waldenwoods Resort and Conference Center in Michigan was both elegant and rustic. Actually, it was a beautiful Vow Renewal Ceremony and Reception for the intimate backyard wedding they had last year. They originally chose Waldenwoods for their ceremony and reception because Julianne has a deep connection to the venue. Julianne’s family were members at Waldenwoods for 10 years and spent many summers and holidays camping there. Her father passed away in 2016 and many of the wonderful memories she has of him are from the times her family spent camping together.
Julianne and Nick wanted the beauty of Waldenwoods to speak for itself, so they kept their decor simple and elegant. Aside from the venue, one of the things Julianne was most excited about was the dress of her dreams from The Dress Shop in Howell, MI – it was absolutely beautiful on her! I also loved her bridesmaids’ dresses. Rather than having all of her bridesmaids wear the same dress, or even the same color, Julianne asked her bridesmaids to choose a dress that was flattering to each of them in any shade of pink they wanted. In a lot of ways, I love a classic and timeless wedding…but I am a HUGE fan of the modern approach of coordinating, instead of matching, bridesmaid dresses. These girls looked flawless!
Being able to celebrate with all of their family and friends was what Julianne and Nick were most excited about – and their DJ did not disappoint! The dance floor was THE place to be once it was opened up to all of their guests. They also remembered those who couldn’t be there – Julianne had a locket photo of her father on her bouquet, her hair combs were her Great Aunt’s, and they had framed photos on the mantle of loved ones in heaven.
Their faith, devotion, and deep appreciation for one another is felt by everyone who knows them. Julianne and Nick may have thought they would be able to get through their vow renewal tear-free because “we already did this…” but there wasn’t a dry eye. It has been an absolute honor to capture and celebrate the love these two have for each other. I feel blessed to be their Forever Photographer, and I can’t wait for the next chapter of their love story!
