University of Michigan Wedding | Lauren & Donnie

Lauren & Donnie’s wedding was a last minute addition to my 2021 Calendar – and I couldn’t feel more thankful and blessed to have served such a wonderful couple!

Lauren and Donnie met at a University of Michigan hockey game, despite the fact that Donnie is not a fan of hockey. Their first official date at an Italian restaurant was a much more mutually enjoyable experience – though Lauren remembers herself as being a nervous chatterbox that night. Over time, and their love of Reeses, they the time they spent together just kept getting better and better.

Donnie proposed to Lauren during a salmon fishing trip on Lake Michigan with her Aunt and Uncle. One night during the trip, he stole her away for a dinner alone and found the perfect spot on the beach to propose. 

More than anything, Lauren and Donnie wanted their wedding to be simple, elegant, and focused on sharing the day with their friends and family. 

Their ceremony was held at their home church, Knox Presbyterian Church. Waldenwoods was the perfect location for their reception, Lauren and Donnie loved that the rustic and historic feel of the building had a beauty all of its own. They accentuated the venue’s natural beauty with dusty blue and lavender details.

Speaking of details, Lauren’s dress and hairpiece were absolutely stunning! I also loved that she wore her Great Grandmother’s pearls – incorporating a family heirloom into your bridal details is a beautiful way to honor the “something old” tradition.

Second on the priority list just might have been getting wedding party portraits at the Big House and couple portraits at the Law Quad. When the family bleeds maize and blue, it’s a pretty big deal to include the University of Michigan stadium and campus into the wedding day. Lauren and Donnie also sported stickers on the bottom of their wedding shoes!
