Leelanau Destination Engagement Session | Jessie & Cy
I am always down for adventures to new places, so when Jessie and Cy told me about how much they love to spend time together in Northport, my immediate response was “let’s go!” Yes, Michigan Destination Engagement Sessions are a thing for me…and they just might be my favorite thing! We started off in the Leelanau State Park.
Jessie and Cy started dating in College, they were both in the Welding program at Lansing Community College and had booths next to each other. When Cy finally asked her out for dinner after class one night (he had been talking to her every day since their class started), they immediately knew that they had something – in Jessie’s words “we just clicked!”
When you find a super cool tree like this one and some gorgeous light falling in through the branches, you have to take advantage! One of the things Jessie loves most about Cy is that he can always make her laugh, in fact, the laughter was pretty much non-stop during our session. We had so much fun together, but getting a few quiet moments together in the middle of the woods was pretty magical too! Next on our adventure was the Grand Traverse Lighthouse.
Don’t let Cy’s goofiness fool you, there’s a big soft heart in there! He proposed to Jessie on Christmas night after visiting her family. The snow was falling at sunset as they went for a walk…Only Jessie’s words can do the story justice: He asked “Is there anything that would have made today more special?” I just looked at him and said “No, I already have you in my life, I feel complete.” That’s when he pulled out my ring and said “What about this? Would this make it even more special?” Of course I started crying and said “Are you asking me to marry you!?!” He nodded, I cried harder and of course said “YES!”
When the bride and groom are both welders, only a beautiful custom engagement ring will do! After a quick outfit change, the next stop on our Adventure was Christmas Cove Beach. This spot is tucked away and is one of Cy’s favorites from childhood, he hadn’t even taken Jessie there before yet!
With their proposal happening at sunset, and having a beautiful beach setting, we were really hoping to end the session with some gorgeous sunset shots. Mother Nature did not disappoint!
