Marika and Theo’s summer wedding at The Grecian Center in Southgate, Michigan was a dream come true for any classic bride. Their vision for an elegant and romantic wedding day was truly brought to life by the gorgeous venue and the stunning work of their vendor team. The Grecian Center is connected to the St. George Greek Orthodox Church. The church is filled with beautiful artwork and architecture and was a natural venue choice because it is Theo’s home church. Their Greek Orthodox ceremony included the traditions of The Lambathe, The Joining of The Hands, The Crowning of Stefana, and The Dance of Isaiah. I absolutely love the symbolism in each of these traditions! After the ceremony, Marika and Theo had a traditional rice throwing ceremony exit and greeted their guests as they made their way to cocktail hour in the garden.
While their guests enjoyed cocktails in the gardens, the bride and groom snuck into their reception space for a sneak peek. Marika was especially excited to impress her guests with their floral decor and couldn’t wait to see her vision come to life. Their reception in The Parthenon Ballroom was absolutely jaw dropping; a suspended floral installation floated above the dance floor; the tables were filled with white orchids, roses, hydrangeas, greenery, and gold accents; and the dessert table was overflowing with a variety of sweets. It was truly a work of art!
Even more beautiful though, was Marika and Theo’s focus on what mattered the most to them – their love for each other, their faith, their marriage, and celebrating with their family and friends. They instantly “clicked” when they met in New York through Theo’s cousin, and Marika’s high school friend, Maria. Some of their first dates included going to many restaurants and bars in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. They have a shared passion for trying new places and continuing those adventures will be part of what keeps their marriage strong. Marika and Theo already see the value in my go-to marriage advice, “never stop dating!”
It was such an honor to be Marika and Theo’s wedding photographer. Capturing the affection these two have for each other and the beauty of their wedding day was effortless because of their timeless love and style. I feel blessed to be their Forever Photographer and I can’t wait for the next chapter of their love story!
