Julianne & Nick’s intimate backyard wedding may not have been what they had originally planned, but it was absolutely beautiful! COVID restrictions may have postponed their wedding at Waldenwoods Resort to next year, but it did not cancel their love. LOVE IS NOT CANCELLED!!! And, if you ask me, all the feels were that much stronger because they chose to focus on what matters most – their love and dedication to each other, and sharing that with the people who matter most to them.
Kudos to Julianne and Nick’s families and friends for helping transform the backyard into a beautiful intimate ceremony and reception space! Neighbors even pitched in by bringing over flowers and decor from their own homes. Everyone coming together to make this day special for the two of them was a beautiful expression of kindness and community in a time when the world so desperately needs both.
Julianne and Nick decided to save their First Look for the Ceremony – Nick’s smile when he saw her walking down the steps to her brother was contagious!
Something about intimate weddings just makes my heart fill up – Julianne and Nick’s ceremony was filled with laughter and happy tears, it was perfect! For those of you who are looking for an alternative to the traditional Unity Candle or sand…these two literally tied the knot!
Those smiles say it all – there was nothing that was going to stop these two from getting married!
Pro Tip from Julianne & Nick to all the couples out there who are downsizing their guest lists and making the switch to an intimate wedding because of COVID: live stream to all the family and friends that can’t be there! If you have a videographer, ask them if it is a service they offer. If not, you can also do it on your own with a stand and your phone! Julianne and Nick made a Facebook Group for all of their wedding guests and streamed the ceremony to the group for everyone who couldn’t be there. Of course, they can’t wait to celebrate with everyone at their Vow Renewal & Reception next year – but this was a great way for them to share their wedding day.
When one of your neighbors has an amazing garden for a backyard (complete with koi pond) – you take them up on their offer to do bridal party portraits there!
I loved the personal details that Julianne and Nick incoporated into their wedding. Julianne had her Dad with her every step down the aisle <3
Guess what’s still COVID-friendly?! Family Style Seating for dinner! After some toasts and some food, it was time to steal the newlyweds away for some alone time at their community beach on Dunham Lake. I can’t even describe how incredibly beautiful of a night it was, so I’m just going to let the photos do the talking 🙂
And yes, you can still have a Cake Cutting and First Dance even if your wedding is in a backyard, and even if you don’t have as many guests there!
Julianne and Nick, it has been an absolute privilege to be a witness to your love. Planning, and re-planning, a wedding in this crazy COVID world could make anyone lose it – but you have both been exceptionally graceful and have kept your priorities focused on what matters most. Whether it was going to be a backyard wedding or a courthouse elopement, nothing was going to stop you from declaring your love and devoting yourselves to each other – and nothing was going to stop me from being their to capture all the beautiful memories! I am honored to be your Wedding Photographer and your Forever Photographer – I can’t wait to celebrate the two of you all over again next year at your Vow Renewal and Reception! Step aside COVID, you’ve got nothing on these two! <3
And for all the couples out there who are finding themselves in the same position as Julianne and Nick…re-planning their wedding because of COVID, here’s how they pulled it off!
